Serving flatware
The art of the table setting goes back to the beginning of XIX century. At that time the custom of decorating the table with the tableware and matching silverware, according to the occasion, was implemented. Each guest received a set consisting of soup spoon, knife, fork and tea spoon. All silverware was decorated with the same design, like presented here flatware decorated with the Duchy of Warsaw design.

Table flatware
Custom of using flatware originates from the beginning of the XIX century. By each place setting of the guest, a set consisting of soup spoon, knife, fork, and tea spoon was arranged. Decorated with the same design sets changed over the times, and there assortment has enriched.

Breakfast
When the breakfast is informal, on the left hand side we place butter dish, beside which we place butter knife with rounded tip. On the right hand side of the plate we place cheese knife and knife.

Dinner
We place the flatware on both sides of the plate in a sequence they are being used: the farthest from the plate we place cutlery which will be used first, on the right hand side we place dessert-dinner knife, with blade facing plate, then table knife.

Supper
We place forks on the left hand side, first dessert-dinner fork, and next to the plate table fork. Knives should not be more than two: one for steaks, one table knife. At the top of the plate we place dessert and fruit flatware.

Elegant Supper
If the supper is formal and elegant in style, dessert and fruit knives are placed horizontally to the plate, and they are served together with desserts. Escargot forks should be placed on the small plate positioned on the left from the dessert flatware.
